It was a fully functional passenger railroad depot building! It continued to function as a Santa Fe Railroad depot until the late 20th century. Ownership eventually transferred to the City of Canyon. Canyon utilized it as a storage facility and staging ground for seasonal projects. Officially, Pondaseta finalized the deal with the City of Canyon in May of 2023. While we got to work right away, construction formally kicked off in January of 2024. Despite typical construction delays, growing project scope, all while operating our original location in Amarillo, we opened to the public in March of 2025. You’ll frequently find the founders and their kids in the taproom on the weekends. Please note, not all of our events are appropriate for children, but feel free to ask your bartender if you have any questions. We have a dog friendly patio (accessible most of the year) for well behaved, leashed pets. Unfortunately, the Amarillo Health Department prohibits pets from being anywhere inside the building. :’( Probably so! Fill out our job application here! We wish! In 2021 we proudly launched our very own Pondaseta Food Trailer. Check out the menu here and ask your server or bartender for pairing recommendations. Nothing actually… Our Logo is our own artistic combination of a yucca plant and a hop cone. Ranchers of West Texas love to hate yucca plants their animals can’t eat them and their hearty nature, but they are an unmistakable part of the Panhandle Landscape We describe our beer as Modern American Craft Beer. Our favorite styles include Pilsner, IPA (of all types), Fruited Sours and more. We try to keep a diverse menu on-site with some “old school” styles too.
